Course Description
This course represents the first part of this process and is a semester-long sustained period of research and development leading to the development of a feasible team proposal for a commercially or socially viable Capstone Project. Proposals will be supported by working prototype(s), as proofs of concept, and other relevant research findings. Students develop tentative concepts for their Capstone Project and develop an R&D Plan for the further research, development, and learning required to complete the project.
Based on their R&D Plan, they then carry out their research and development activities, leading to the completion of their final proposal for their Capstone Project. Activities can include the building of experimental prototypes (as proofs-of-concept and for user-testing), researching technologies and design approaches, further in-depth review of the field, learning new (or further developing) skills, researching markets (potential users), and testing UX assumptions
